Reasons I Think I have a Ghost in My Home

  • I have a specific pair of flip-flops kept by the patio door. They were missing, but found here, neatly side by side where you can see there is no organization. (No this is not a reflection of the rest of my home) (I believe that by bringing shoes into the house or upstairs in this case, you are bringing the energy from the outside world into your home. I like my home to be a peaceful, calm space.) (To those of you wondering, no this is not how I broke my ankle.)
  • There is a clicking noise coming from the bedroom. Every single time I get near to investigate, it stops. This happens with the window open or closed. Ceiling fan on or off.
  • I was looking for a certain bracelet that was not where I leave my jewelry. I looked everywhere, kitchen drawers, under the bed, behind the dresser. I found it the next morning on my nightstand on top of my blackberry.
  • My new MacBook with only one other program (Firefox) running has crashed Word three times while I’ve tried to write this.
  • The same drawer on my dresser is left half open. I am fanatical about closing cabinets, drawers, etc for feng shui reasons. I will find this drawer open even after I just closed it and left the room.
  • Yes, I have smudged the entire place with sage starting at the lowest point in the east and working to the highest point in the west. Twice.
So you tell me, do you believe in ghosts? Wouldn't you say I have several indicators that point to positive? What's your take on this situation?

Creepy. I hate it when odd things like that happen, but I am no where near as organized as you and its highly likely that I did indeed leave the drawer open or the bracelet on the nightstand.

holy crap. that sound freaky to me. you better go over to the office and ask if someone died in your place before you got there....yikes!!

Any dog who can open the refrigerator may also be moving shoes!

That doesn't explain the Macbook problem, though.

Hmmmm.

I'd be more apt to attribute this to some sort of government spying program! (and no, I haven't watched too many spy movies...)

Do you 'see dead people?' Quick name that movie. lol.

That is crazy. Usually spirits left behind are friendly.

It sounds like you have a very polite ghost living with you. Neat and tidy, anyway, except for maybe the leaving the drawer out. You could try burning a white candle and telling your guest that they are dead and need to go to the light. Tell her that this is your house and she needs to go home to God.

A skeptic would say that all those things could be easily explained, but I would tend to rely more on your gut instincts. If it feels haunted, it probably is, in some way or another. Then again, the ghost seems pretty harmless. You could acknowledge its presence and ask it kindly to stop moving your things around :)

Maybe we can fix your ghost up with my ghost and they can unlive happily ever after?

Sounds like a ghost to me. Hey, what is in that one drawer that you find half open? You must be needing to pay attention to something in there.

Ever wonder if ghosts see you naked when you're getting dressed?

Ok...now that is just creepy/eerily weird. And that was a funny joke about those shoes not being how you had your accident. That was cute...

I thought I had a ghost in one of my old apartments. I was in the bedroom and all of a sudden the door slammed shut. I was paralyzed with fear. Eventually, I realized it happened when I stepped on one of the warped floor boards. Still, even after I knew the reason, it always made the hair on the back of my neck stand up when it happened.

I believe in ghosts, TOTALLY.

As the magic 8 ball would say, "signs point to yes" It's funny you mention the jewelry. I always take my engagement ring off when I take a shower (before bed) and I sometimes forget to put it back on - but as soon as I remember (read: after i've gone to bed) I jump up and get it. I figure that if we have a ghost, that will be what it steals and I'll freak the f* out. :)
I think we have a ghost cat living with us. Particularly in my sink/vanity area between the bathroom and bedroom. Every once in awhile I'll see what I think is a cat out of the corner of my eye, and when I turn around - no cat. anywhere. not even one of the four living ones.

I do believe in ghosts. And it sounds mucho creepy, the things that are going on in your place. Creepy but awesome.

Yeah so I'm weird like that.

Maybe asking the ghost to leave out loud would work?

I don't want to believe in ghosts, but I have had a run in. When Evan was a little baby, my sister and I went to Oklahoma to clean out my grandma's house after she had passed. Evan was asleep in the back room, my grandmother's bedroom. My sister was by the door to the bedroom shuffling through a little desk right outside the room where Evan is sleeping and I was on the couch in the front of the house. It's a small house, I'm probably 15 feet away and I hear a "Shhhhhh, Shhhhh" I ask my sister if Evan was stirring since I thought she was "shushing" him. She then tells me that she thought I was shushing her because she was being too noisy right outside his door. Needless to say we were getting shushed, but it wasn't either of us doing the shushing. CREEPY. There have been other run ins at this house by other members or our family, very sane members of our family.

I think it's funny that your ghost is OCD about your flip flops but NOT OCD about closing your drawers, hehe. Maybe it's more than one?

YOu are braver than I am. I would have moved out by now. It's always the single girl in the horror flick who gets it. I give you snaps for staying there!

I'm open to believing in ghosts. I'd love some proof, but know that's unlikely.

I'm not usually creeped out by things like this. If a ghost wants to mess with my drawers and flip flops, fine. It's when they start getting me or obnoxious that I start worrying.

Our first house had a ghost. Against the advice of our realtor I disclosed that fact to the buyers. They thought I was a kook and bought the house any way. I kid you not.

Sounds very ghostly to me! From what I've read, you should never ask them to prove themselves.

Sounds friendly though. Probably hanging out in the corner laughing about your bracelet and the drawer and the shoes. My advice? Make friends! At least you'll have some company.
