Home Improvement

I'm in this strange place of limbo. Now that I have my cast off, my mobility is greatly improved, (although, let's not kid ourselves, I did pretty much everything the doctor told me not to do). But I can't return to the massage intern clinic until I get the doctor to sign off on it and so far that's not happening.

Instead I've been entertaining myself with some home improvement projects.

Observe:

New curtains for the bedroom:

Ceiling fan for the living room:

Which is possibly better viewed here, but I chose to put the black side of the blades down.

This one is a two-fer:
The PERFECT artwork to hang above the piano. Although, looking at this, I realize my picture is crooked. Be right back. Ok, fixed. (Am I the only one that if I see a crooked picture, regardless of where I might be, I have to fix it?)

The new digital thermostat since I couldn't ever seem to keep the temperature regulated.

Up close:

Then I hung this light which was waaaaaaaaaay more challenging than I thought, because I was replacing a can light which fits recessed deeply into the ceiling, but luckily the nice orange-aproned men at Home Depot knew there was an adapter plate to fix this.

I still have a kitchen faucet to install, but since I have better knowledge of electricity than I do of plumbing, I've been holding off. THIS is not the exact one, but almost identical.

Also, who knew faucets could be so expensive? The one I originally liked turned out to be $549. Obviously I was forced into a second choice.

So have you done any home improvements lately? If not, what would you change about your living space?

We went to Ikea over the weekend. It was really hard to not go nuts and redo the entire apartment.

Looks good!! We've been working on the yard mostly, but getting around to the interior stuff little by little :)

I love, love, love the light you hung! While I enjoy watching home improvement shows, I'm not real big on doing them myself. =)

Lately, I've been working on self improvement.

I like your choices! Good job!

No home improvement projects going on here since we added a room on the house starting a year ago (it lasted until Christmas) but we have been spring cleaning, taking one task per weekend, and soon Justin is going to put the glaze on the walls. Then there's the landscaping in the front yard...it never ends!

I hung some curtains on my smaller window in my living room and got a chair from a garage sale to hold me over until I can afford one I really want. It feels good to make it more home-y. :-)

Oh and I can't walk past a crookedly hung picture without righting it.

Uh yeah, I guess you could say we've done some home improvements lately. :-)

I love all your choices -- those curtains are so elegant!

We're still waiting for our flooring to arrive to finish our "minor" bathroom remodel...flooring, toilet, and paint only. I would not allow my husband to rip out the tub, sink or tile!

I am constantly doing something around the house, but due to the recent breakup I've been feeling in dire need of a change and have plans for:

- new living room furniture
- complete the sun porch demo closet build that the bf and I never finished - need siding
- fence in the back yard for the pooch
- purge house of all unneeded crap
- hold garage sale
- weed whack the world
- get a new tattoo (ok that's a me remodel, not a house remodel)

There is absolutely no way I could pass a picture that is hung crooked without righting it. Yikes! Have you ever been to Outback Steakhouse? Some of their pics are hung crooked intentionally. I tried to straighten one and unbeknownst to me they were glued to the wall like that. I had to stare at it through the whole meal.

I love your style! You seem quite handy. I, on the other hand, am more of the "buying" expert than the "installing" expert :)

No home improvements here, seeing as how we don't have a home :( Our next place will be a rental, so no home improvements there except to toss around some cat toys for visual interest.

Wow! You've been busy! I love everything! Good for you!

Sometime this summer we'll need to redo our bathroom. After my rewrites are in and signed off on. I can't start something like that right now.

Like some of the other commentors have suggested, once you get started you can really get a roll on and start noticing more and more things you can fix/improve! Looks great so far.

What fun projects - you have great taste. I love pewter/brush finished items. I live in a small studio where I cant make too many changes/improvements - but watchinbg yours is great!

Tim also needs to fix crooked things no matter where or what there are. I've learned to live with it!

But I love all your home improvements. I can't wait to move so that I can do some in our new place!

Wow! That's a lot of home improvement. Are you there for the long haul then?

Why are you replacing the kitchen faucet? Won't the mgmt do it if it's leaking or something?
