The FitFlop

Here's a fun new shoe that claims to make it easier to stay in shape. They are called FitFlops and supposedly all the rage in the UK. The makers of the FitFlop claim that by wearing them it "challenges" the hamstring, thigh and "bum" muscles, providing a work out just by walking in them. They also come with the warning:

"The FitFlop has the potential to increase muscle activity in terms of duration and workload. As such, we recommend that the FitFlop be used progressively to avoid excessive muscle soreness."

There are several styles for men and women but these are my favorite:
Your thoughts?

hmmm...didn't they say the same thing about the original dr. scholl's shoes? the wooden ones? the ones that now cost like a million dollars?

Are those the ones that shift slightly under your feet? Sounds like I'd be falling-down A LOT.

Honest, folks! Not drunk! It's the SHOES!

Hmm... hard to say without a price. And how many calories are we talking anyway? I'm dubious.

Remember Earth Shoes? Remember Dr. Scholls?

No? YOu are probably too young. Sounds like a crock to me.

I think it is probably a passing fad, but the ones you like are kinda cute.

Too be honest I looked at them and thought "a fancy thong" then I realised that I would have to let you know that we Aussies call 'flipflops' (who thought of that stupid word!) thongs. We have been doing that long before women were encouraged to wear a thong to avoid the panty line! So I thought I won't tell you that and I might just say they look like Dr. Scholls. I've got an idea - runners and walk while doing pelvic floor exercises, sweezing your bottom and then every now and then a few squats....too much?

Those seem like a really neat idea. I wonder how comfortable they are if they're meant to be a workout?

Personally, I'm sad that you didn't find the Aurelia style to be you favorite...I don't know you anymore! LOL!!!

I've been hearing about these...but so far have only seen ugly ones. These are actually cute.

those shoes look kind of...industrial. I personally think that walking around in flip flops and trying to keep them on is challenging enough. :)

I think they look comfy!

It's all an attempt to get us to walk the way we would if we didn't wear shoes. Which might actually be a better way to walk. When you go barefoot, you work all those different muscles, instead of hitting the ground hard with your heel. There's been a lot of stuff written about that lately, it kind of makes sense.

But you're looking to get in shape, you're always better off if you spend more time working out and eating less. Shoes should be cute.

I am all for something that makes me look better without actually working out. Guess who's lazy!

Oooh.

Me Likey!

Hmm, I prefer barefoot anyway :-)

I'd have to try them out to know for sure, but I have to say that the ones you picked out are the only ones I can stand. The rest are pretty horrible looking.

I say stick with good old fashion exercise! Any shoe that promises those things, scares me a bit! They look comfy though, I'll give em' that.

avon sells curves shoes and they came out with a sandle and a tennis shoe that does the same thing.

I almost live in flip-flops (Widget - when I was a kid we here in the US did call them thongs, HATE whomever decided to apply the term to undies). I'd try them if the price was right.

I'm hardly the one to ask; I tend to totter about in four inch heels and then go barefoot at home.

My mom recently bought these tennis shoes, can't quite remember what they're called, but they're kinda the same idea. They're really bulky and the sole is rounded so when you walk you kinda feel like you're rolling. It forces you into correct posture and works butt muscles that normally wouldn't get worked just by walking. My mom LOOOOVES them.
